Baby Emma (Delaware Baby Photographer}

I just adore Emma. She is so tiny and cute, and as she grows, she gets even cuter. She was my first every Baby Milestone collection baby.  I photographed her as a newborn in my old apartment, and her re-shoot was in my new home. And now she was back for her 4 month session.  Take a look at this cutie! I can't wait to see her again!

Elf on the Shelf-Day 3 {You've got mail!}

Today we found Adventure the Elf hiding in the mailbox. Conveniently eyeing the ad from Denny's for pancakes.  I think she is trying to send us a message?

Elf on the Shelf-Day 2 {King Kong Elf}

Adventure the Elf couldn't find a building to climb up, so she channelled her inner King Kong and climbed the mini tree instead.

Day 1-Elf on the Shelf!

I first saw Elf on the Shelf last year, when a friend of mine was posting hers. Up until then, I knew nothing about it. But this year, I just knew I had to get it!  It's a fun tradition that I am hoping that Charlotte picks up on, of setting your elf in different places in your home each night for your kids to wake up and find.  The purpose of the elf is to report back to Santa whether the children have been naughty or nice.  But the whole time, the Elf may be up to it's own antics.  I think it's adorably cute, and I love family traditions!

So after a big fiasco with Amazon as well as Fed Ex, my Elf did not arrive on time. I ran out last night to get her, and here she is!

Everyone meet: Adventure the Elf (named after my daughter). Although we are a few days later, here is Day 1: Dungeon Master Elf!

A very special Small Business Saturday {Delaware Lifestyle Portrait Photographer}

Good morning everyone!!!

I hope you all had a wonderful and fabulous Thanksgiving! I know we did. It was our first Thanksgiving in our new home. We cooked, had an amazing dinner with friends and family, and I just loved it.  And then there was dancing to Gangnam Style, and a bunch of other videos.

And then there was Friday morning, Black Friday. We stayed in, but I was up early to snatch an amazing deal from one of my favorite and amazing corset makers, Damsel In this Dress.  I am so excited for it to get here!

Then there was a flash of inspiration.  Because I have received so much support and have watched my business go from a far off dream to an actual reality, I definitely have to say thank you. Thank you to all my clients, friends and family, those who have supported me, those who have believed in me, those that told me not to give up.  How do I say thank you to such amazing people who continue to put their trust in me with capturing, the real life moments of their families, their wedding days, their children, the births of their children?

OFFER SUCH AN AMAZING DEAL THAT I HAVE NEVER OFFERED BEFORE!!!

Originally I posted these on Black Friday, and they went flying out like hotcakes! But I received quite a few messages about offering more sessions because many folks were not at home on Friday. So here it is! Small Business Saturday, and it's for you! Enjoy!!!

Read the full details and purchase your BOGO Free Portrait Sessions here! http://marisataylorphotography.com/#/bogo-black-friday/

Oh! And because it wouldn't be Thanksgiving in our house without a little sword action. Here is my husband about to carve the turkey with his sword

Getting Ready! {Delaware Family & Child Lifestyle Photographer}

It's the day before Thanksgiving.  And leave it to me, I wait until the last minute to get things done.  I just got back in from the grocery store, and let me tell you...it's a madhouse!  Thankfully, I got everything that I needed off of the list. Well the groceries at least, the rest of the stuff like decor were gone.  They already have Christmas decorations out!

And then it hit me...I haven't posted the details for my Black Friday/Small Business Saturday offer!  As a small business owner, I of course encourage you to shop at your local small business, and of course go handmade with online places like Etsy and Artfire.  It may seem like a little thing, but there are tons of small business owners, and tons of people who sell online. I used to be one of them. And trust me when I say, my holidays were made brighter when someone purchased items from my shop to give as a gift or keep for themselves.

Ok! so here is the deal!  I have created a special website that will showcase my offers. There are three of them!  You are only allowed to redeem 1 offer, as long as you fill out the redemption form.  So choose carefully!

On Friday, I will have the site posted online (on my Facebook Page!) from 11am-1pm.  Saturday I will have the site posted online from 11am-6pm.  Those are the only times that the site will be up for you to redeem your fabulous offers!  So what are the offers you ask? Check out below!

The best thing about these offers is that you are not actually purchasing anything today! You are just redeeming your offers for future use. How awesome is that?  But again, I will only have the site up for a limited amount of time for you to redeem your offers, so stay close!

Have a happy Thanksgiving everyone!!!

The Gunter Family {Delaware Family Photographer}

I first photographed Noah when he was about 4 months old. It's amazing how time flies! He is now over 8 months, sits up on his own, and is full of smiles and giggles. Now before I show you these pictures, let me warn you that he is absolutely adorable.  Seeing him makes me want to have a baby boy now!

The Aulen Family {Delaware Family Photographer}

It really is funny how small of a state Delaware actually is, and how many people know people without realizing it.  It turns out, that I had already "met" Jennifer and Mike at our friends Autumn & Jim's wedding last November.  So when they came to me for their family session, it was like we already knew each other! Plus, Jennifer makes cake pops...and I LOVE cake!

So on a bright, sunny afternoon, I photographed Jennifer, Mike, and Skyler, and a good time was had by all. Well at first Skyler didn't appear to be having a good time, but all you have to do is toss a kid in the air sideways and they are all smiles.

Oh, by the way, I am going to call Skyler "Mini Bing" from now on. You will see why when you see the pictures of him rocking his fedora.

Just Do It!

It breaks my heart when I hear people say "I wish I would have these photos done when so and so was born".  It makes me sad and happy at the same time. I am glad that they chose me to capture their photos at this current time, but it makes me sad that they missed out on amazing images with their first child, or first anniversary, or just any sort of first there are.

When it comes to newborns, there is no way to get that time back. Sure you can have hundreds of images as your child grows up. You can watch them play and laugh. But those precious moments of when they are first born, the details of their tiny features, you won't get that back.

So instead of saying, "I wish I had booked you", then just do it. Save up a little bit of money each week. At your baby shower, ask for gift certificates (I offer those!). Make it happen. These are moments that you won't get back, and I definitely want to be the one to capture them for you.

Thank You

There are days that I wonder, "what the heck am I doing?".  Leaving a steady job, with a steady income to pursue a dream is never an easy option.  You are walking into a sea of uncertaintity blindfolded.  I am so thankful for my husband for being my rock, and letting me know that I can do this.  It has taken years, but I am finally getting to the point where I am feeling more comfortable. I've slipped into a comfortable routine, and I am very glad and humbled at how my business is growing.

I am glad that we now have a house, with a dedicated space for my studio and office. I am extremely thankful for all of my amazing clients over the years who have not only trusted me, but have told their friends and family about me.  I am steadily building a network of client-friends.  And it amazes me.

My main goal is to give you amazing pictures. I want to capture the love and joy of you and your family.  I want to become friends with you, so that as your family grows, I will be there every step of the way.

So thank you for giving me the opportunity to capture moments of you and your family.

"Oh my gosh, I don't know what to say. These photos are absolutely wonderful. With that beautiful slow song in the background, you had me bawling. They are gorgeous and they capture so much love and joy among our family. Wow, I am truly impressed and amazed. I never like photos of myself, and I love so many of these."

The Collins Family {Delaware Family Photographer}

A few weeks back, I had the pleasure of hosting some fall mini sessions at my home. I went to work creating an awesome vintage ribbon backdrop, painting vintage chairs, and getting everything set up. I am glad to say that the turnout was great, and it will definitely be on the calendar for next year!

One of the families that I photographed was the Collins family. Cindy, is a fellow photographer.  And I will be honest, I was a bit nervous when it came to photographing another photographer. We can be very picky at times!  So with Cindy, her husband and her three boys, we had fun and laughed while being photographed. I especially love that all three boys sat in the chairs according to their ages :)  It was adorable. And I also made sure to get a couple of shots of Cindy and Rodney together. Since every couple deserves a couple of great shots of them together!

The Hill Family-A Day Amongst Trees {DE & PA Family Lifestyle Photographer}

It always makes me happy when new families that I photograph are friends with old families that I have photographed  It's almost as if we already know each other, and I already know right away that we are going to have a fun session.  And fun was definitely had!

I headed up with LeAnn, J.P, Nolan, and their dogs Duke and Brady to the beautiful grounds of Swarthmore College. Beautiful might be an understatement.  The grounds are unbelievable gorgeous. There were trees, and benches, and even a big wooden swing that definitely made my heart swoon!

The day was perfect. Perfect weather, slight overcast. The dogs were awesome. We had such a great time.  And Nolan, is adorable. The end.  So before I keep babbling on, check out their session below!
