Happy Fathers Day!

This Fathers Day started out on a bang for us. On our way home early this morning, we made a right turn, and the front passenger tire popped off. Completely popped off. Apparently, all of the lug nuts were missing except one.  How does that happen?  Thankfully, we have AAA, and we were picked up and towed back to our place, and the car to the mechanic.

This was all at 5 in the morning.

So, sans car.

Either way, I want to wish every dad and every mom playing both roles a Happy Fathers Day!

Wes is an amazing father to Charlotte, and you can tell when she looks at him and her face lights up.  Enjoy today!

Charlotte a,k,a, Little Miss Chic {Delaware Baby Photographer}

Being the daughter of a photographer is tough. Charlotte has been in front of the camera since the day she was born. And now, at 9 months old, she is her own little person and is able to crawl away from the camera when she is sick of it.  From time to time Charlotte receives props to model for boutique baby prop shops.  Some times the shoots go amazingly well, sometimes...not so much.  Yesterday though was a great day!  Here are some of the images from her shoot!  And after that, visit Little Bits Chic over on Etsy!  I absolutely ADORE her stuff!

I must admit, she is my favorite subject to photograph!

Charlottes "Up" inspired portraits {Delaware Baby Photographer}

I am a huge fan of Disney.  You walk into my house, and immediately you see two framded Disney pin sets on the wall, as well as six character drawings that I did at the animation studio, and of course quite a few stuffed Disney characters on shelves and on the floor.

When my husband I first went to see the movie "Up", we knew it was going to be a good movie. It was a Pixar movie (hello Toy Story!) backed by Disney. It HAD to be good.  We were the only ones in the the theater, since it was a matinee. 10 minutes into the movie, I was in tears. Well let me say first that I cry at almost every movie, but this movie was so good that within the first 10 minutes I was laughing and crying at the same time.

So since I love Disney so much, and "Up" is a movie about adventuring, (Adventure is my daughters middle name by the way!), friendship, and fun. I wanted to do something that was inspired by the movie.  So we headed out and got some balloons, tied it to the basket, and headed to a field. Mind you, I have a very curious 9 month old that likes to do her own thing now. So rarely does she ever look at the camera.

Rock The Shot-June Photo Challenge Entry-Dads {Delaware Family and Portrait Photographer}

Yay Dads!  A very big yay for my husband who is an AMAZING father to our daughter Charlotte. I seriously, could not ask for more.  This month is a photo challenge over at the Rock the Shot forum. The challenge is Dads.  Here is my entry:

My husband and our sweet, amazing little miracle Charlotte.  Let me tell you, picking one final image for this challenge was HARD!  We were heading out the house today to go to a carnival, and I just felt inspired at that moment to capture them together. The position of the sun was perfect in the sky, Charlotte hadn't messed up her outfit (yet), and Wes didn't have his windswept hair that he gets after he drives with the window down.

So I made him take her out of the car seat, and I just captured him being dad. He threw her up in the air, tickled her, and the whole nine. But this one, this one of them dancing, stops my heart when I look at them. I see him smiling, I see her holding on to him and smiling, and I know that right at that moment, she is having the best time ever with her dad.

When I photograph people, doesn't matter if it's a wedding or portrait session, one of my favorite things to do is to make the image look like we are looking directly at a memory. You know how when you are watching a movie, and there is a flashback, and you can see what the person was feeling during that moment? That's what I try to convey through my images.  While I love adding a twist on traditional portraiture, I love it even more when I can capture a definitive moment.

Because it is late, 2:27 a.m. I am going to stop rambling. But first, here is the technical information.

I took this image using my Canon 50D (my trusty baby) and my 50mm 1.2 lens (my FAVORITE lens!).  I pretty much always shoot in manual, and try to get the image as perfectly composed within camera.  I shot this at 100 ISO, f/2.5 at 1/750s.  I then upload into Adobe Lightroom (sorry, I just can't do photoshop for my main editing). Tweaked the colors, exposure, contrast to my liking, added split tones, and then bam! Here is what you get.

Enjoy!

Portrait: Maya-Class of 2012 {Delaware Senior Portrait Photographer}

As of Tuesday, June 5th 2012, my baby sister Maya is no longer a high school student.  She is now a high school graduate and will be attending University of Delaware in the fall!  Congrats to her, I am so proud.

I am even more proud that she did not fall asleep at her graduation like I did!

Ok, back story.  You know how they call the students by last name.  Well our last name is Taylor, so it is obvious that we are in the back.  I graduated high school in New York.  We had well over 800+ in our senior class.  So let's just say, I was napping long before my name was called!

Here are some of her senior images!  It's good having a photographer in the family my mom told me!

Love, Mom: Lisa and Melanie {Delaware Portrait and Family Photographer}

I have another great Love, Mom session for you this morning. This time with Lisa and her daughter Melanie. I'm going to let you know now, that once you see the pictures, you wouldn't believe that they are mother and daughter. While I was editing their session, my sister in law came up and said "oh, that's nice, sisters doing pictures together".  When I told her that they were actually mother and daughter, she called me a liar.  So here are a few of the images from their session!

Love, Mom: Elsa and Shasta {Delaware Family & Portrait Photographer}

I love Shasta and Elsa.  Shasta is an amazing seamstress, and makes renaissance ensembles that are gorgeous, and Elsa is her little one full of life and happiness.  I did Shasta's maternity session, and Elsa's newborn session, so now it was time for their Love, Mom session almost two years later. Kids grow fast!!!

Love, Mom: The Euston Ladies {Delaware Portrait and Family Photographer}

A few weeks ago I had a couple of sessions called Love, Mom sessions. These were sessions for moms and grandmothers to get some great images of themselves with their families.  This session was with Tori, her adorable daughter Morgan, and her mother Kathe. You might remember Morgan from a few posts back when I photographer her and her new baby brother.  Here are some of their images!

Heathers Portrait Session {Delaware Portrait a & Glamour Photography}

Happy Monday!!!I've been a bit behind on blogging my sessions lately.  A ton has been going on! And unless I write everything down on a list, it gets thrown to the wind. So yesterday, I made a list, and here we go with the blogging of the sessions!

A few weeks back Heather and I got together to do sort of a 60's mod inspired sessions. I wanted big hair, black dress, and fun poses.  And we did that!  I will tell you this, I cannot apply make up to save my life, but I can do hair (even though I barely do my own!).  It was fun and gorgeous, and here are the images from the first part of the session!

And here is part two...in the woods!  I wish we had a video camera, because the walking to the location part was quite funny.

Day 3. Blanket. I washed a ton of our blankets yesterday, so I found it pretty funny that today's topic was blankets.
