Happy (almost) New Year!

The last few hours of 2013 are upon us. I hope you all have had an amazing year.  Even with the trials and tribulations, just smile and realize that you are still here.  I am hoping that everyone has a fantastic 2014. Full of love, laughter, happiness, positivity, healthy, and prosperity.

For my fellow photographers, I posted this on my

Make 2014 about YOU. Don't compare yourself to other photographers. Don't wonder why they got to where they are, worry about why you are not where you want to be. And then change that. We hold our careers in our hands, and no one but ourselves can hold us back.

This year, I hope to learn more, grow more, network more, and make my dreams come true. I have big goals, and I know that the key to achieving them, lies within me!  I spent many years comparing myself to every big name photographer, wondering why I am not where they are. Instead of taking that time to think and put my energy into my business, and accomplish what I needed to do so I can get to where I want to be.  I can guarantee you this, the photographers that are big, and doing their own thing, they are worried about their work. Making themselves better.  Working harder.

Positive thoughts bring positive results.

Have a happy new year everyone! See you in 2014.

2013 Year in Review {Delaware Lifestyle Family Photographer}

Whew! Here we are again! Closing out another amazing year. Just a few months ago, I was saying that it is taking forever for this year to get over with, and now, here it is.  2013 has been an amazing year for Marisa Taylor Photography. There has been lots of learning and growing. Branding my business, coming up with a pricing structure that works for me, learning to cater to clients even better than I have before, new shooting techniques, finding and honing my style while exploring new styles, it has been a whirlwind. An amazing one, and I do not regret any of it.

Trying to balance raising a two year old, marriage, home life, and a business is tough. Especially when you have an auto-immune disease. But this past year has proven that I can do it.  That I DID do it.  There have been many times when I wanted to quit, when I just wanted to sell of my camera gear and not do it anymore.  Many nights that I have spent editing and emailing, and anguishing over photos.  Many days comparing myself to other photographers and why I am not them.  This was this year that I broke that spell. This was the year that I proved to myself that Marisa Taylor Photography is here to stay.

So with that said, 2014 is going to be even more amazing. I have special collections in store, I want to do more stylized family and baby sessions, as well as continue expanding my fashion brand, Marisa Seasan.  I want to learn more, grow more, and meet more amazing photographers and photograph more wonderfully amazing stories.

So let's take a look back at 2013:

In 2013, I have photographed 35 family and portrait sessions, 3 weddings, 2 engagement sessions, 3 boudoir sessions, 26 newborn and baby sessions, and 1 birth! Not to mention all of the sessions I have photographed of Charlotte, special projects, and my new dive into fashion portraiture.

None of this would have been possible without YOU.  So a huge thank you to everyone! Everyone who has supported me, everyone who has believed in me, everyone that has trusted me to tell the story of the love that they share with their family.  Please continue spreading the word about Marisa Taylor Photography! Have your friends & family like the Facebook page!

See you next year!

The Rosini Fall Family Session {Delaware and Pennsylvania Family Photographer}

Part of the reason that I love being a baby and family photographer is because I get to have my baby fix on a weekly basis. And let me tell you, little Miss Francesca, and those adorable cheeks make me definitely want to have another baby.  The last time I photographed her and her amazing family was when she was a newborn.  So as part of her Milestone Collection, we headed out to Ridley Park for their second family session, and at this age (Francesca was 4 months), the smiling and the gooing was in abundance!  She was such a good sport, even when I put her on her back in basket surrounded by leaves!  Take a look!

Be nice to your small business owners this holiday season!

I saw a status update about this topic yesterday, so I wanted to expand on that and share with you.

It's the holidays, yay!  This is probably the most hectic, and headache inducing time of year for most people. But at the same time, it's the most rewarding.  Hot chocolate, sparkling lights, being around friends and family, and of course family traditions make the cold, dark nights worth it.  And of course the shopping. Oh boy the shopping!

Since many of you like to shop at small businesses, I just wanted to put this out there. Be nice to your small business owners.  Well, be nice to everyone in general. But just know that small business owners are driving themselves crazy and ragged trying to keep up with holiday dead lines, while keeping a smiling face.  A lot of holiday time is spent away from their own families so that they can cater to you and make sure you are a happy customer.

So definitely be considerate that they are working to the bone to get things done. And be aware that once their item/job is done, they typically have to ship that item. At that point, it's basically out of their hands.  We do not have control over mail delivery!

Just remember that this is a happy time for everyone!  Happy Holidays!

The Bartlett Fall Family Session {Delaware Family Photographer}

The weather was definitely on our side for this session!  Perfect temperature, sunny skies, and lots of leaves to play in.  I had a great time photographing Dan, Andrea, David, and Eve down at Battery Park before the cold (and the snow!) settled in. Check out how much fun they had during their session.

The Parker-Gibbons Fall Family Session {Delaware & PA Family Photographer}

I absolutely adore this family. It's always a good time seeing Beth, Mike, Maeve, and Declan. Especially watching Maeve and Declan grow!  I am still amazed that I was present at Declans birth, and now he is walking and doing his own thing.  It's one of the best perks of my job, watching families grow.

Check out their amazing family session at Ridley Creek Park!
