Life is Amazing {Delaware Lifestyle Portrait Photographer}
Yes, i'm that mom. Anytime my daughter does something cute or amazing, I am following her around with the camera like she is a celebrity being chased by the paparazzi. I can't help it. Motherhood is absolutely amazing to me. Childhood even more so. I don't take pictures just for myself, I take them so that Charlotte can look back on them as she grows up. I want her to see her quirks and habits when she was a baby, and I want her to laugh as I did. And when she gets MUCH older and has children, I want her children to see how she was. I find looking at images of everything an amazing experience. It truly does capture that single moment in time.. So when people ask me why do I take so many photos, why do I love taking photos, and why you should have your own photos taken, it's simple. Capture your life in an amazing way.

Children-The Buckworth Boys {Delaware Baby and Child Photographer}
Meet Adam and his big brother Lucas. Two handsome little boys, full of personality. Especially Lucas! I wish you could have been at the session to here the things that we talked about. Like connecting his Wii, Phineas and Ferb, and more. Here are some of the images from their session. I can't wait to see these two again.

Sweet, sweet Jenelle. You are so cute and tiny. And even though you were born prematurely, I see big things ahead in your future!

Toddler-Christian {Delaware family lifestyle photographer-Marisa Taylor}
I love lifestyle sessions. Being there in a familys home to capture the moments of their life candidly is amazing. And it definitely is not as easy as just clicking the shutter button and you are done. You have to feel when the moment is happening, before it actually happens. Compose the image in your head before you even press the shutter button. Kids + Lifestyle = Amazing images. The raw, fun, loved filled time of childhood. Here is Christian.

Baby Emma {Delaware Newborn & Baby Photographer}
Little miss Emma makes me want to have another baby, RIGHT NOW! I miss the days of Charlotte being little and tiny, and just letting me snuggle her. Thankfully Emma was there to give me my baby fix! She was my last session before we moved into our house, and my first every session in my (still being put together) studio!
Seriously, I love photographing babies. Dare I say it, I love it more than weddings!

{Newborn Portrait-Erasmas} Delaware Newborn Photographer
I am "cursed". Every little newborn that I photograph stays awake during their session. I have yet to have a baby who has actually slept. I keep the place warm, they are well fed, but as soon as I take out my camera, they are wide awake and looking at me no matter how young they are. And little Erasmas was no different. A tiny little face, with the most adorable eyes equals for the most squealtastic baby expressions. Yes, I spent a lot of time just holding and talking to him because he was too adorable.

{Newborn Portrait-Little Miss Aubrey} Delaware Newborn and Portrait Photographer
If you know me, you know how much I adore babies. Even before I had my daughter, I was baby crazy. Everything from their tiny little eye lashes to their adorable little toes, I just can't get enough of it. Being a mother now, I appreciate even more taking time to just dote on my little one. Time truly does go by fast! You would think that they would stay tiny forever, but it goes by in the blink of an eye. And that's why it is so important to capture those memories while you can. And that is why I totally love what I do, and completely put my heart and soul into it.
Little Miss Aubrey was just 8 days new when we did her session. She was the first newborn that I have photographed that stayed awake pretty much throughout the whole session! For such a little one, she definitely kept her eyes on me. Of course, she didn't fall into a deep sleep until after the session was over and she was dressed again. But nonetheless, she is just too cute for words!

Floored...in a good way!
I am going to share a secret with you. It's not a big secret, well ok, it kind of is. Nevertheless, you are about to find out something that only us in the photography world know, and we guard it with our lives!
*Cue dramatic music*
Ok, I am being way too dramatic here, but that is how I am in the mornings. After only getting about 3 hours of sleep, because my daughter loves to party through the night. Even though she is just under 4 months old. Okay, back to the original topic, this crazy big secret. Here it is:
As a photographer, I am my own worst critic. I suppose it comes with having a crazy creative mind. And the fact that I am capturing moments of peoples lives for them to cherish (sounds cheesy, but hey it's the truth). It's a really heavy burden, but I still love it. It's weird, because there are times when I look at my photos and think "Damn! I am awesome!", then there are other times when I am like "Damn! What am I doing? Why did I even start this?". It's the roller coaster of emotional and creativity that every photographer rides (or at least I would like to think so). If we were not so critical of our own work, then we wouldn't be able to produce the amazing work that you hang up in your home, and show your family and friends. Or do as my husband does, whip out his Ipad instead of his wallet to show pictures of our newborn daughter.
So, in one of his Ipad photo showcases, the person he showed it to saw the pictures of my daughter Charlotte, as well as other babies and such that I photographed. And said, "These look like something that Anne Geddes would do!". THE ANNE GEDDES. Yes, I had to type that in capitals, because thats just how big it is for me. My first reaction was that it was WAY to gracious of a compliment, and my work is not even on the same level as Anne Geddes, it doesn't even breathe the same air...ok, maybe I am putting her on a crazy pedestal, but seriously, it's freaking Anne Geddes. I just smiled, and simply said, "Thank You". While on the inside I was screaming and jumping like a fanatic of Glee and Justin Bieber mixed together.
The fact that this random person, knowing who Anne Geddes is, and compared some of my work to her, floored me. In an absolutely good way of course. Do I love what I do? Of course! Do I take great photographs? Yes! Is my work to the likes of Anne Geddes? In my mind no, but in that persons mind, yes. And pretty much...it's all that matters. Because I can criticize my work all day long, but it matters on what other people think of it. Because they are the viewers, they are the ones that see it in a completely different aspect that I do!
So I suppose that whenever I am feeling down, and questioning what the heck I am doing, I will just think back to this random stranger and their comment, and keep pushing through.Pin It
